What Kind of Ski Clothes
do I need?
Dress in layers so you will be prepared for changing weather conditions. Cover your skin, even during
warm, spring weather conditions. Look for clothing that is water resistant to keep you warm. Many jackets also have a zip
in/out liner that allows you to layer easily. Many ski jackets will also have a lightweight hood that stores in the collar
to help protect you from heavy winds or snow. Ski jackets and pants are made in many different fabrics. Quality equipment
will help you stay warm and dry while skiing.
Ski pants keep your legs warm and dry. Ski pants come in three basic styles; pants.
bibs and one piece ski suit. Bibs help to protect your mid section from the snow. One piece ski suits tend to be warmer and
provide complete protection to your mid section.
Gloves are necessary and need to be waterproof and breathable.
to keep your hands warm and dry. Gloves allow for more range of motion and mittens will keep you warmer in really cold weather.
Most of the body's heat is lost through the head so a helmet, hat, headband or earmuffs are needed to keep you warm. Goggles
or sunglasses will help you see clearly on the snow. Sunlight reflecting off the snow is very bright and It is difficult
to see through falling and blowing snow without eye protection.
Sunlight reflecting off the snow can cause serious
sunburns very quickly. Waterproof or sports sun block and lip balm of SPF 30 or greater applied to exposed areas will protect
you from sunburns.
