The GDSP/DASA 2012 Ski season is approaching!

Due To Lack of Snow at Hidden Valley We Are rescheduling the start date of GDSP/DASA skiing from the first week in January to the second week in January.
If you are a Monday Night Volunteer or Athlete your ski starting night will be January 9th.
If you are a Tuesday night Volunteer or Athlete your ski starting night will be January 10th
 If you are a Thursday Night Volunteer or Athlete your ski starting night will be January 12th.
The January 3rd and 4th Volunteer free ski instruction provided through Hidden Valley’s School is cancelled as well.   The Rescheduling dates TBD.

Volunteers still are needed to come the second week of skiing  in January  even though on-hill trainings are not until later in January. Volunteers will get experience and some training hands on that first week of skiing in January.

The On-Hill trainings have been changed to January 11th and January 18th: 6:30-8:30PM. January 11th is Adaptive Equipment training for those volunteers that are volunteering on Monday nights. January 18th is for those volunteers that come on thursdays and work with individual with Visual impairments, blind, hard of hearing, deaf, developmental disabilities, and special olympics team. Update on Ski Passes:
  The Capability to purchase GDSP/DASA Hidden Valley Ski Pass Online is up and ready for you to go and purchase your pass for the 2011-12 season. To purchase your pass please log on to www.hiddenvalleyski.com. At the bottom of the home page is a button, Ski & Ride Club Login, click on that button the next screen it will ask for Club Name it is GDSP then the password is dasa then choose Go Shopping. Then your pass options will be available. Choose the pass you would like and purchase it through the shopping cart. It is very simple.  Any questions 636-938-5373 press 0. ALL passes must be purchased ONLINE this season.After purchasing on-line you may go to Hidden Valley to pick up your pass beginningNovember 21st from10am-4:30pm. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CHECKS IN TO HIDDEN VALLEY IN THE MAIL THEY WILL BE RETURNED. The checks Hidden Valley currently have will be processed but an others received will be returned. Even If you fill out and purchase your Hidden Valleey Pass with Hidden valley You will still need to register as a volunteer or athlete with me. The passes cost, but if you as a volunteer are consistent 80% of the ski nights you will be reimbursed at the end of the ski season.
Pass Cost: Through Hidden Valley
-Monday-Thursday GDSP Pass Only- $50.00, Lift Only
-Monday-Thursday-GDSP Pass with Rental- $75.00, ski equipment rental
-Monday-Thursday-GDSP Anytime Pass- $300.00 Unlimited Skiing.                      
        Add Rental to Anytime Pass: $125.00.
Everyone needs a pass to ski at hidden Valley. As volunteers we greatly appreciate your time, but ask if you are going to volunteer that you understand the commitment is for at the least 80% of the skiing nights that we will be having.  You will need to purchase the pass yourself and then if you make at the least 80% of the time commitment you will be reimbursed the $50.00 or $75.00 at the end of the year for the pass. We will not reimburse for the full cost of an anytime passes. We will reimburse only $50.00 of the anytime pass.
This year we will be skiing on Monday Nights, Tuesday Nights, and Thursday Nights. 
Monday Evenings= Skiing for those with Physical Disabilities, Veterans ski night.
Tuesday Evenings= Skiing for The Duty Bound Kids Program.
Thursday Evenings= Those with Visual Impairments/Blind, Developmental Disabilities, Special Olympics, Hearing Impairments. 
Athletes: Fittings and Time/Equipment Slot Sign Ups
Athletes, new and old, need to come for pre-season fittings. These fittings are also sign up times for the ski season time slots for the ski season.  If you do not come to the fittings and sign up for your time/equipment slot you will have to sign up later and the slots will be minimal. Your first ski night you will have to be fitted and may not get to ski due time it takes to fit.
Fitting dates: You must RSVP and sign up for a fitting slot for these dates. RSVP to DASA office: 636-477-0716.
Athlete Fitting Dates:
  December 12th:   6:30-8:30PM at HV. Athlete Fittings for Equipment. Athletes must RSVP to DASA office for time to come.
                                                                  December 13th:   6:30-8:30PMat HV. Athlete Fittings for Equipment. Athletes must RSVP to DASA office for time to come.
   
There will be trainings that all volunteers are required to attend.
Volunteers are ask to attend one of the dry land trainings and one of the on-hill trainings not all the training dates. I need to know the nights you will be able to make the trainings in order to help in planning.

January 28th Delta Gamma Ski Camp for Kids.
February 11th Ranken Jordan Ski Camp for kids.
February 16th  7:00-8:00PM at HV. End of Year Party for all athletes/Volunteers to Attend.
End of February into March is end of Ski season Depending on Weather.

Mission Statement

The Gateway Disabled Ski Program is a not-for-profit, recreational ski
program for children and adults with disabilities. We are committed to the
development of lifetime skills for people of all ages and abilities by
providing an affordable ski experience. Our objective is to build self-
esteem, confidence, physical development, socialization and fun that
enhance active participation in all aspects of our community by promoting
the concept of ability through integration, public awareness and education.


The Gateway Disabled Ski Program offers athletes an opportunity to achieve through a variety of exciting winter snow sport adventures, including alpine skiing, snowboarding, ski biking, downhill, slalom and giant slalom racing.

The Gateway Disable Ski Program provides modern up-to-date adaptive ski equipment, instruction to disabled skiers and professional instruction to volunteers.

This program is open to any athlete who needs adaptive snow sport equipment or special instruction. Adaptive ski equipment and instruction is available to athletes with all levels of ability from beginner to advanced.

The Gateway Disabled Ski Program provides services to physically disabled, visually and hearing impaired, mentally challenged, developmentally disabled and behaviorally challenged athletes. Disabilities include but are not limited to: ADD, Amputation, Arthritis, Autism, Behavioral Disorders, Bone Disorders, Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Deafness, Developmental Disabilities, Diabetes, Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, Fragile X, Hemophilia, Learning Disabilities, Little People, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Disorder, Muscular Dystrophy, Nerve Disorders, Neurological Disorders, Paraplegia, Post-Polio, Quadriplegia, Respiratory Disorder, Spina Bifida,Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, Substance Abuse, Vision Loss/Blindness.

Athletes regardless of their disability can learn to ski, board and bike with their friends and family. The Gateway Disabled Ski Program has expanded services throughout the community and now offers a wide array of programs designed to reach as many athletes as possible.

How You Can Help?

VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are the backbone of Gateway Disabled Ski Program.
We depend on you.

GDSP needs non-skiing and skiing volunteers.
Novice, intermediate and experienced skiers can help our athletes.

Volunteers may assist skiers on a one-to-one basis as a "ski buddy" on the hill or help maintain equipment, fit athletes to equipment, organize and coordinate volunteers, athletes and events.

FREE SKI LESSONS AND TRAINING IS PROVIDED.
